Saligao Khotla: Milag, the last surviving render (toddy-tapper) of my village is back from his evening "soor" (toddy) collection trip. Every "khapancho maad" (coconut trees with niches on them) reminds me of my childhood days and that brave breed of renders of the seventies. My salute to Milag for retaining the age-old tradition of our ancestors. I feel always happy to see Milag walking with his cathi ani dudke (toddy-tapping implements). Sometimes one question haunts me: after Milag retires who will give us soor (toddy) for making tasty sanna (local rice-cakes).
