That's right! Our love for books and reading was nurtured at an early age by my parents, both of whom loved to read and learn something new all the time. Tony, it's wonderful that you recall my dad's extensive National Geographic collection (and donation to the SI) as also his RD collection(...dating back to maybe the '40s??) Everyone benefitted from the tons of books at home, including the termites :) Or :( sometimes!
Incidentally, talking about the SI and books...Years ago, when I was a member of the Saligao Parish Youth Association, we ran a book collection drive in the village, with an excellent response, and donated them to the Institute. I guess something similar can be repeated. Another suggestion...does the SI have any computers? Can some be donated? These days, school kids benefit tremendously from being able to research a wide variety of topics on the Internet, and not everyone has a computer at home. Patsy "A.A.
