Help other CONSUMERS to be better informed. ---------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------ GOACAN to observe a LPG Consumers Safety Awareness Fortnight from 14th April -------------------------------------------------- GOACAN will observe a LPG Consumers Safety Awareness Fortnight from 14th April National Fire Service Day, so as to cover a range of issues which require responsible action from consumers in Goa. The awareness campaign will involve the village based Consumer Forums reaching out to consumers with information on their responsibilities when using LPG for cooking purposes so as to prevent fire accidents. The campaign will focus on the importance of using ISI Marked Stoves and Suraksha Hose, proper location of the cylinder and safety measures to be adopted in case there is a leakage of LPG in the kitchen. The campaign will also focus on the need for a Mandatory Mechanical Inspection of the LPG domestic installation once every two years by an authorized mechanic deputed by the distributors of HPGAS, BHARATGAS and INDANE in Goa. Consumers will be encouraged to be proactive and visit the websites www.mylpg.in maintained by the Oil Marketing Companies and www.goadfes.gov.in of the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services so as to get more information on LPG Safety & Fire Prevention and share the same in their neighbourhood, Housing Societies, Self Help Groups etc. Special focus will be on spreading awareness among consumers on the use of the LPG Emergency Helpline 1906 available to seek assistance & report unsafe practices in the use of domestic & commercial LPG cylinders.
