I just took a closer look at the Khan Academy concept.  Wow!!  Totally amazing.
The sad thing with most great ideas is that they remain just that....great
ideas!  Unless the people who dream them up have what it takes - mainly the
tenacity - to see them through to reality!  What a great job, here!

Beyond a shadow of doubt....where there's a will, there's a way!!
One of the most important, I would say VITAL, ingredients for success with any
venture is a basic interest in wanting to make it work!  Everything else
follows from that.  (This is why sceptics and critics probably don't achieve
very much!?😊)
And you are absolutely right about amazing and free (what's better than
free??!😄) resources on the Net.  I wish more teachers would embrace rather than
be intimidated by innovation in education, which of course involves an
increasing degree of technology in the classroom, addition to relatively new
concepts like collaborative learning.  We learn best when we learn in several
different ways and learn from each other in a collaborative learning
environment.  This is very different from the (still widely prevalent) system
of teacher-centric/centred education, where the teacher supposedly knows/should
know/is required or expected to know 'everything' and is expected to 'impart
that knowledge and wisdom to his/her students!!'. I think, particularly in this
day and age, the most effective teachers are those who can openly admit to
their students that they do not know everything, and are happy to learn from
their students as much as they are delighted to share with them what they do
know!  Open discussion in the classroom, and students researching info on
topics is now the way to go, wherever the circumstances permit, and wherever
and whenever they can be created.  A lot of our textbook info is outdated
(except history, perhaps!😊 and Math, too) as it goes to print!!
I am somewhat familiar with the Khan Academy.  Can't say I know too much about
it.  Thanks for the link!
(As you can see, education is a topic that is still very close to my
heart....always was, always will be!😊)
Regards,
Patsy

Agree with you on the specific tech and investment for such setups. But we can
take help from more easier and freely available stuff from the net. I mentioned
Khan Academy in the other thread - https://www.khanacademy.org/ - I am sure
many teachers like you are aware.

Thnx
Arup
