I was so angry that I phoned the bank ombudsman (or some such designation) in Mumbai. The call came through back to Saligao, via Panjim. This issue was sorted out soon enough. On another occasion, a Government of India cheque was returned unpaid by the bank. This is rather strange. How could such a thing happen? Again, I had to call Mumbai, and the issue got sorted out. They just throw up their hands and say nothing is possible because 'connectivity is down'. I wish an important bank like this would take more care to ensure that they had a back-up connectivity to access the internet. One expects better, especially because the bank earns so much of its profits from our villagers. Wonder how much (if any) they put back by way of corporate social responsibility into the village itself.
