The cleanup was good work. Kudos to all!

Reminds me of the time when we literally swept the roads & pavements alongside, & opposite the Alankar Cinema House in Mapusa under the Jaycees Banner. Cant believe the junk that people throw on the roads - no civic sense at all, it's the same here. With all the "environment talks" going on, the govt. here will be introducing a subject corresponding to Civics, in school. Perhaps it is called Environmental Studies... saw this book with our friends' children attending non-govt. schools here. But in Goa we have no excuse as Civics has been a subject during my time & I'm sure is included in today's curriculum ....we now have theory & practicals eh? I recall during one of my trips home, the Consumer Cell had us collect all our junk (including plastic bottles) & place it at a strategic spot - this was then collected by trucks. These children have really done a good job.

Guess it's the parents duty to educate their children from a young age - no littering at home, the order is valid outside the home too. The schools will just continue this order as part of one's education... simple! Children imitate their elders, the onus is on us, we need to be their role models!

Have a nice day
Annette
