Dear Cybergaokars on SaligaoNet, Friday Balcao the fortnightly discussion event to be held on 24th June will focus on community involvement in tackling malaria & other vector borne disease in Goa. Dr. Dipak Kabadi Dy. Director (NVBDCP) Directorate of Health Services and Dr.Sachin Govekar, Health Officer, Mapusa Urban Health Centre will lead the discussion at the Balcao and share information on the new strategy of BCC in the context of Goa. This June the anti-malaria month campaign has been launched for the prevention and control of malaria as well as other vector borne diseases like filaria, dengue, Japanese encephalitis through Behaviour Change Communication (BCC). The National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP) has emphasized on involvement of the community in prevention of vector-borne disease. What role can NGO's, Service Clubs, Mahila Mandals play in making the Vector Borne Disease Control Program effective? How can Educational Institutions contribute to the behavioural changes with respect to preventing vector borne disease ? What collaboration can be undertaken by Panchayats and the Municipal Councils with the Primary Health Centres and Hospitals ? The Balcao discussion will cover these questions and and also evolve an agenda for action by citizens on the issue. Friday Balcao will be from 4pm to 6pm at the Goa Desc Resource Centre No.11 Liberty Apartments Feira Alta, Mapusa and is open to members of the public.
