Dear Cyber Saligaokars, Ashely Lobo, Ashley Delaney and Mario spent the 27th afternoon at the Dy. Chief Minister, Dr. Wilfred D'Souza's house in Saligao. BSNL had invited us there to witness the inauguration of Broadband in the village. We watched the person in charge of the Internet Section, Sub Divisional Engineer Mrs. Mini Jerome, the local Junior Telecom Officer, Mr. Phadte and another JTO Jeetendra, from the Internet section in Panjim as they effortlessly configured Dr. Willie's PC to connect to the internet. At the end of the demonstration for Dr. Willie and his wife, SDE Mini Jerome warned of the dangers of keeping the modem on. "Always switch the modem off", she cautioned. "This will not only save you from the activity of worms, Trojan Horses and spyware but will also save you big bills due to your machine accessing the Internet without you actually doing so. Some subscribers have ended up with bills of over Rs. 20,000/-, because they had not switched off the modem", she disclosed. Mrs. Mini Jerome and Mr. Phadte have been working very hard to get broadband to Saligao and have promised to keep the same standards of service and efficiency. Thanks to both of them, our Internet problems are not as many as they used to be before. True to their traditional standards of efficiency, D-Link have been providing Saligao subscribers with excellent service and tech-support through their local agent Ashley Delaney as well as their Customer Care and other executives at their factory in Verna. Broadband releases to other subscribers in Saligao will continue till the present quota of 240 connections is over.
