SALIGAOKAR IN THE NEWS... Dr Zelio D'Mello back from Singapore
PANJIM: Dr Zelio D'Mello, Associate Professor of Orthopaedics, Goa Medical College Bambolim, recently attended teh 5th Asia Pacific Conference on Knee and Hip Joints Replacements held at Singapore from August 14 to 20. He had the opportunity to meet and interact with the best orthopaedic surgeons from different parts of the world. He was one of the few delegates from India who attended the meet and the only one from Goa. In Singapore he also had the opportunity to learn a few advanced techniques in joint replacement surgeries. Dr D'Mello who has been performing hip and knee joint replacements for the last three years with good results, at the request of the Goa Doordarshan performed a live surgery at the Goa Medical College, Bombolim, which was telecast on August 9. He is the only Goan doctor to undergo specialized training in knee and hip joint replacement at Mumbai under the late Dr K T Dholakia who was a pioneer in joint replacement surgery in India.
