Hi SaligaoNetters
Guess all in Saligao enjoyed the Feast yesterday (11/2/2007) & prayed to Our
Lady of Lourdes for Blessings. For those who received their First Holy
Communion & for the respective families, it would have been an extra special
day. The pictures are very good, all lovely angelic & smiling faces around.
Thanks Rico! However, I wasnt able to identify any of the kids, but then I
cannot recognise some of their parents now, they were all kids 25-30 years
ago. Grrh! I'm getting old/ancient etc.
11th February used to be a special day for the students of Lourdes Convent -
I remember during my time (1968 - 1970) we used to attend mass at the
Convent, then we had a few cultural activities & Sr. Veronica used to
distribute "godde" (small, round, multicoloured sweets)...those were the
days. We also put up the various plays such as Pearl the Fishermaiden etc.
But that has been touched upon before on this Net.
This is the first time, we have had no news of Fr. Nasciment & no wishes at
Christmas nor for this Feast. Just got news that he hasnt been well & is
now recuperating & hopefully is on the road to recovery. We pray for his
speedy recovery.
Wow, Nicholas garden flowers look fantastic, but then I've been admiring his
garden over the years as I passed by every day from 1967- the various
coloured roses always caught my eye when his parents were doing the
gardening too. Saw the colours in January this year also. Hmm! dont
remember his planting those Christmas plants - Poinsettias (not sure about
the spelling) but looks like now he has added them to his garden. These
potted plants are placed in every area of the Hotel here over the Festive
season & they are not cheap - Christmas colours of red & green - very
pretty!
There's even a photo of a couple of alter-girls... a positive change we're
seeing within the church >in the past couple of decades or so.... (this was
a very male-dominanted arena when we grew up!)

Of course there should be change seeing that there is change in everything
all over the world - there should not be discriminaton even in this area,
eh Rico?. Women are in the forefront now Rico, as I'm sure your daughter
must be proving that every day. In the Church here, I see the number of
altergirls in equal proportion to the alterboys - times are chaging......I
doubt there are many male-dominated arenas nowadays. Even in a Muslim
country like Bahrain, the all-girls football team have made their mark by
winning . By the way, how is the girls Team (football) doing in Goa? I
recall in the 1970's, Susanna & others had put together a team????....
And Rico, if my above para doesnt bring about any postings from a few males,
& hopefully a few females endorsing my statements, than nothing will.
Nobody is even knocking on Saligaonet. And according to some, they are not
receiving the little information that is posted on the Net. They seem to
have been taken off the Saligaonet List. Told them to get in touch with you.
You are the one to solve that particular problem.
