We were very sorry to hear of the sad demise of Mr. Edwin Saldanha. His
passing away will be a great loss to his children & their respective
families (Yvette, Kevin, Patsy, Jenny & Daphne) and we pray that God gives
them the strength to bear their loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with the
Saldanha family for the eternal repose of his soul.
We knew Mr. Saldanha quite well, Luwell because of his association with St.
Britto. I, because of my chatting to him at Peggy's Corner whilst waiting
for the Mapusa bus to go my way. At first glance, he seemed stern, ... the
teacher's quiet looks & dignified aura,... but on chatting with him, I
changed my mind.... I found him to be a very pleasant, kind & knowledgeable
gentleman. Also saw his strength & that of Yvette when the family needed
them most at the time of Patsy's ordeal. Wish I had known about his
winemaking abilities earlier, only got to know about this on reading Rico's
article some time ago. I loved homemade wines & have seen our friends make
the same. Oh well, it's too late now as I am no longer able to taste nor
drink wine. But I'm sure Mr. Saldanha has written down the recipe somewhere
for others to follow ...as I recall, isnt there some book written?
Once again, we convey our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family. May
his soul rest in peace.
Annette, Luwell & Ashley
