Hi SaligaoNetters,
Hope all are at peace with themselves & their world today, it being the last
day of the year.
Louis, I missed your mails - official & personal, but knew you had a
reason... however, I think I'm gonna have the last word, (unless you make
& take the time to reply to this mail).. your "paras" have afforded me the
opportunity - ha ha!
Yvonne, congratulations on writing your story about Burma. No doubt it took
fortitude and courage to continue living in a place after being savagely
attached as you briefly describe. I did hear of the story when I was much
younger but never quite believed it.
hmm! you didnt eh? But the proof was there! Guess being the neighbour
opposite their place, I saw for myself besides listening to the horror
stories. Strong family to have pulled through everything. Congrats to Yvonne
once again.!
Congratulations to you too Rico for the publishing this book. Also best
wishes for what I think must have been your 40th B'day. You are a staunch
Goan and Saligavkar whom I have great respect for. Keep up your good work
with the education, support and encouragement of the younger generation,
and
Saligao/ Goanet
Louis, are you a good friend or what? You not only give away the info about
Rico having a birthday this month, you also speculate on the age....jeez!
Anyway Rico, you are a "smart" 40 ...so congratulations on all counts.
Patsy, great to see your postings and catch up with your news. I'll try and
catch up with you offline Saligaonet sometime
Now there I agree with you Louis, hope Patsy will continue as she promised -
posting!!!
Quentin, glad to know that you are being kept busy as Mr mom and that are
keeping body, mind and soul together.
Concha (aka AA Fernandes/ long Tony) good talking to you sporadically
whenever we have a chance via the wonders of Skype technology.
Annette, I was going to say something, but I'll let you have the last word
before I start! I'll catch up with you sometime offline Saligaonet
Hey Louis! You sure have a way of dealing with mail - included everyone in
one go eh?
Wish you had "said" something now (in 2007 & continue in 2008) instead of
informing that you will catch up - dont put off for tomorrow what can be
done today....in this case - "say" in 2007 instead of leaving it for 2008 of
course - hey hey! Unfortunately I'm not on Skype though my friends are! But
then everybody on this Net knows that I can just about deal with simple
email & couldnt be bothered dealing with the rest of the modern
technology....I would have to download etc. etc. - grrh! Would rather
spend the time reading or dancing & the latter I will do tonight at the New
Year's Eve Ball organised by Young Goans Club here.
Fr Nasciment, certainly miss your postings of ancestral Saligao. Hope your
health is improving and certainly hope to see you continue your postings
once again.
Ditto
The last few months I have been away in the Central Highlands of
Queensland,
AU. At a place called Middlemount. The closest "big" town by small town
standards is Emerald where Richard (Nicholas's brother from Saligao) lives
with his family. I have been fortunate to spend quite a bit of quality time
with Richard and his family on every alternate Saturday that I spend away
from home.
Presently working with a German company called "Schade" who are building 5
coal stockpile and reclaim machines for Anglo coal in the Bowen basin. As I
do not access my email at work, it is quite difficult to catch up with the
150 odd messages that sit in my inbox along with another 150 off spam
messages that accumulate in the 10 days that I am away from home. The site
is also a remote site and mobile phones do not work in most areas except
the
construction site which is noisy!
Finally some info & news! thanks! thought you had temporarily disappeared
into some hills, holes, craters & basins. Ah! so your modern technology
doesnt work there at the site, eh? Too bad! boohoo! Are you not able to
carry these "Blackberry"/"Blackbury" (which is the right spelling or are
both wrong?) items which work anywhere in the world & you can also send
emails from them?
Anyway, those are my excuses for not posting any emails to the Saligaonet,
and I am sticking to them..!
Good excuses,Louis... of course you should stick to them as I'm sure all of
us are going to stick to the New Year resolutions, i.e. if we have made any
of course.....I havent & dont make them anyway. Good luck to all!
I take this opportunity to which all the readers of the Saligaonet the Best
wishes for the New Year 2008. May you have peace in your hearts and within
your families.
I second this...this is your best & fantastic para Louis considering the
turmoil the world is in today, & I especially like your last line
May you suffer only from good health through the year.God Bless
I like the line & hope your wishes come true for you & your family & for all
of us...I for one, could do with good health in 2008!
To all SaligaoNetters, Saliganvkars & friends around the world
Best wishes for a healthy, happy, bright & prosperous New Year 2008.
Annette
