My Sentiments too Joe,

Well written Tony. The best years of any person is when they are a child
growing up, the key being no egos , inhibitions, responsibilities........ etc.
It is only relative in retrospect when we relate a child from a developed
nation to an underdeveloped nation. A person who goes through life without ever
tasting ice cream, chocolate bibinca, dodol, pinag and the like will never know
what they missed.

During my school days I spent 90% of my time in Mumbai, the rest in Goa on
holidays and my college days were reversed. The best memories of my childhood
were in Goa.

Your narration hit the spot and could easily have been me with a few changes.

Quentin

The irony is that Tony D'Sa's birthplace, Kenya, tethers on the brink of
civil war just as he reminisces so poetically.
Africa was paradise for many but, on reflection, it was probably hell for
the exploited indigenous population.

The fact that a local brew was their stairway to heaven says it all.

But beautifully written Tony, and much enjoyed.
