maybe there is a little misundstood.
Ahmed, phonboy talk about Unix rpc and i thin SA use Windows rpc.
So when you have Windows Server in your DMZ you must open the Netbios Ports. When you want to check Unix rpc you must go another way.
But i don't know how, sorry.

Please correct me if I'm mistaken - I thought SA uses RPC calls to check services/process? However, I'm not implying it's an issue with SA.
Yes - I aware & you're right that RPC/NETBIOS has been blocked on my firewall -but I have a rule to allow RPC calls to the servers I want to check. All want to know is the program & version numbers for SA.
Perhaps if my explaination is not clear could you please check this link:

This is not an SA issue as such. We use Netbios to do some of the
checks and your firewall is blocking those. If you still want to use
these checks you'll have to open the port on the firewall. Nothing
we can do about that within Servers Alive.
dirk.

I remember the issue of Salive not being able to check the
status of services/processes in the DMZ was raised in October
2000 - because the firewall do not allow this through.
Could you please let me know whether you have found a way around
this. If not - I understand I may need the program number &
version number of Salive do be able to set a rule on my firewall
to let RPC through.
Here is the link where I found the information:
