And this combined with the already available schedule?
And which one will then be "active"?
Person has is not on call on Monday July 14 2003 but his schedule says that on monday he should get email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]?

I suppose it should be set on person level and not on team level?

Dirk,

What about a calender control which lets you mark which dates a team/person is on call, most companies with a support team will know well in advance which team is on which day/week.

We run 24/7 so it's not a problem of time to us just dates!

I think most people just won't do it.

When we started working on people/team we had some talks about what cycle to use.  First idea was to have a day schedule per person, then week, then month. And finally decided on the week schedule.   Then there was the question with on call-people.  For some it's one day per week, for others it's 2 days per week, or one week per 2 weeks, or ...  the number of possible combination is almost endless.  Until now we haven't found a way to have a generic "on-call-system" to implement within Servers Alive that could suite all needs.  So if you have any good ideas .... you know were to send them :-)

In which case, you could export the registry key or branch that contains this configuration detail, and have different registry exports for this key or branch that contain the different configurations for teams and people, then simply have these .reg files available to be merged at the click of the mouse.

Then restart Servers Alive to make the registry changes effective, if they are only read at application start-up.

Does this sound reasonable?

Dirk,

are the teams and people settings stored in the host file?

If they are, you could have duplicate hostfiles that contain the same checks but different teams and people settings.

This would allow you to swap between different hostfiles in a relatively short time and save you having to make the changes to the teams and people which would be a lengthier process and could be prone to human error, i.e. incorrectly setting someone's availability.

The only way to do that is to activate/deactivate the people.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has a method for utilising teams and people on a weekly cycle. The doco gives an example where the "on-call" process is split between several people over the space of the week but I can't find a way to set up a week on week off arrangement other than de-activating people. We have a three week rotation of staff and as a feature or if someone has a nifty workaround it would be handy.

Regards,

Dave C
