Troy / Jonathan,

this is the utility you want from what you are describing in your mail
below.

I use this to check for various entries across a number of servers
eventlogs.

I check for Warning and Error type messages on all servers and also checking

for Reboot entries, as well as checking for custom entries that I have added

to eventlogs using the 'Logevent.exe' utility from Microsoft, it comes with
the Resource Kit for Windows 2000. This allows me to monitor various
scheduled
routines that I run via batch files and CMD scripts.

Mark Bradshaw - who produces this has been more than helpful on a number of
occasion
when I have needed some advice regarding this utility.

Regards, (and many thanks to Mark for an excellent utility)

Andy

Troy,

I was under the impression that is what the Checkevt utility was meant to
do...I saw it on a third party website...

http://www.networksimplicity.com/utils/#checkevt

I may be wrong...or I may not properly understand what you are looking
for...I think it checks the NT event logs, looking for specific entries, and
when it finds one, it can create a SA event code that will in turn cause an
alert...

Does anyone have any utilities that work with SA to check NT/Win2k event
logs for certain entries?

Troy
