agreed, the dependencies make for a much easier way of monitoring, I recall that before I really had them dialed in, I was getting 20 pages a day...now I get two, and those are typically due to processors maxing out...HP Openview makes a huge deal of their version of dependencies, they call it event correlation, and charge big bucks for it...lol
