Did you make a trace to see if it's going to the servers?
SA is not using any cache we send a direct request to the server you
specify. What is possible however is that on the network (typicaly the
firewall) there is some kind of DNS cache that intercepts request and
answers them for the outside dns server.

dirk.

External query is ns1.blah.com
Internal query is ns3.blah.com
Looking for "A" record "www" at blah.com

Strange thing is, servers alive asks me which dns server to query but
then it does not appear to query it?

By internal resolver library cache are you referring to:

My local machine cache for example if I want to clear it I would type:

ipconfig /flushdns

?

Same name in both queries?
Is it possible that you're getting the address back from the system's
internal resolver library cache? There's a check-box to make SA *NOT*
remember IP addresses and to re-query on the name every check.
