I just retried this and for me it works as expected.

 

I had an alert set to send a message on 1 down and then every 24 down cycles.

First down cycle gave me the alert as expected.

2nd didn't

...

25th did again give me an alert.

 

Looks perfect to me.

I have several entries that I would like multiple alerts sent for.

   

For example:  When a certain service is down, send an alert.  Also, send me an alert every 4 hours until it is resolved (back up).

 

I configured the setting as:  "When 1 times down and then every 48 down cycles".  I am doing checks every 5 minutes.

 

I would assume that if the service went down, I would get an alert and if the service stayed down for the next 4 hours, I would then get another alert that it was still down.

 

However, with it configured this way, I get the alert every 5 minutes.  I could deal with this if it were an email, but at $0.10 each to a cell phone, it adds up quick.

 

Do I understand this option incorrectly?  Is it broken, or is this how it should act with these settings?

 

I am using version 4.10.1520.
