This can only be done using a work-around.
Create an entry for this PING check and create an alert: SEND MAIL (could
also be another type of alert) and as WHEN set it to "when bacn up after a
down". 
This means that IF the entry is UP (you get a response to the ping) after it
has been down (no response) then alert me.  
Still the interface will show an UP when the check is up (somehow normal
since the host you're pinging is up at that time).

I am trying to use ServersAlive to tell me when certain events are present
on a machine, not just when they down.  The most recent one is a simple
ping.  We have a machine on our internal network, not part of the domain,
that has a virus.  We have the name (it is a non standard name which makes
us think it is someone's home laptop).  And it appears to only be here at
night.  I want to be able to do a ping that tells me when this machine is on
the network.  This feature would also be helpful for other things when
certain services or processes become active, not when they become inactive.
