Are all the devices you will monitor also dual-homed? On a separate subnet? You could add a second IP Address to that NIC on a different subnet with a secondary ip on the default gateway for that nic and try routing the traffic that way?
Why do you have two nics on the same network with different metrics? It seems to me that you are looking for backup connection in case the primary fails, but I think if you had the same metric, it would do some statistical load sharing. Hi, I have a multihomed Windows 2000 Pro pc (with 2 NICs), on which a network backup software and ServersAlive will both be running. Both NICs are connected to the same subnet, with the same network gateway and two different metrics. I would like to make the backup software use only the first NIC, while the ServersAlive use only the other one. The first task is solved by the backup software options. How can I tell ServersAlive to use only the second NIC? The pc will TIA, Domingo ------- Q&S Srl Via P.
