If you have a sniffer (netmon/ethereal) then try to capture the full conversation between SA (smtp2pop3) and the server to see what exactly was the command BEFORE getting the 502 from the server.

I'm trying to set up email checks and I'm getting the following error: SMTP Interupted during a send.

Further Investigation reveals a 502: Command not accepted

I have done a telnet session with a helo and help:

Since all SMTP connections via my network connection are blocked EXCEPT through Cox's own servers, this is the only connection option I have.
