If you have logging enabled you should be able to see within the logfile IF it was still checking or not.
Also when you did the LOGOFF could it be that SA was visible?  And do you have the auto-save on?

Dirk.

Hi Dirk.

I think that it has already crashed by then as the reason that i log on to the server is to check why i have not got any reports of stuff happening.

I have noticed that it only seems to be happening since we upgraded to V5

Are you sure it stopped checking BEFORE you did the logon and not while you did the logon?

We found (day before yesterday) a situation were the service of SA could give that message IF you did a logoff/logon and were able to fix that (at least for one customer that was able to realy reproduce this).  I'll send you the link off-list.
We want to be sure that this realy fixes it before making this available more generaly.

Subject: [SA-list] Servers Alive V5 Crashing.

Hi Dirk.

We have had a few times lately that SA has crashed with a weird error.

SA stops checking anything and when i log on to the console i find the a message box with a title of "Servers Alive?"

The body is Run-time error '-2147467216 (40004003)': Method '~' of object '~' failed.

I am running version 5.0.1680

on a windows 2003 server.

There is a possibility that this could have happened this morning when we SQL failover on our cluster.

Thanks

D
