It still would be nice if the spec was posted for such and such a version with the proper disclaimers on it that it is not supported whatsoever. I'm not sure how posting the specs force you to keep to the spec as long as it is tied to a version of SA.
I'm not sure if you answered my questions indirectly or not as to whether there have been changes to the hostfile for v5.
