I am new to using the RRDTools, and I want to generate graphs of up and downtime of servers. I want to display the sum of the downtime of all servers each day, and the sum of the downtime of all servers for each day for the last month using the graph method in RRDTools. I want to display this in the same graph. Using the build-in feature in Servers Alive (File->Setup->Logging->RRDTools->”Generate CREATE script”- button) I am able to alter the standard CREATE script to what I want. However I am not able to alter the GRAPH script. And my first question is:
1) Is it possible to alter both the graph and create script in Servers Alive, or to I have to build the graph script separately?
By using the create script below a bat file that generates several rrd files (This script may have several flaws):
rrdtool create Graph/filename --start now-30d --step 60 DS:stats_uptime:DERIVE:1000000:U:U DS:stats_downtime:DERIVE:1000000:U:U RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:60:744
My second, and most important question is then:
2) How do I summarize the downtime and uptime of servers, and display this in one graph?
There are four statuses I eventually want to display : up, down, unavailable and maintenance
I am able to display the header and vertical label that I want, but that’s about it….
I would appreciate any help I can get on this subject
