No, but that was I think the clue I needed.
When we upgraded, it apparently is running as local service account.
We must have had it setup to run as a domain account before the upgrade.
As for why all the other alerts on services on remote boxes weren't
giving errors, I suspect either they only check every Nth time or
only alert every Nth time. I'll have to check.
So far it looks like changing it to run under a domain account is the solution.
and a boot to the head for me for not catching the obvious. :-)

Subject: [SA-list] Checks fail when run as a service
Since I upgraded to 5.x, several checks of services on other machines
fail when SA runs as a service.
They work fine if I run it as a program in Administrator.
ERR: Getservice status - OpenSCManager - 5-Access is denied.
These are checks that worked previously.
Checks to other machines in the same domain work fine.
So it's not a simple authentication problem. (though may be a more
complex one :-)
Some boxes are 2000, some are 2003.
Suggestions? I really need this to run as a service. (running on
Windows 2000 server box right now.)
