I don't have access to the SMTP server, unfortunately, as it is based in the US where our email is received for the company. Do other client would be access the SA mailbox we have set up for this check as the mailbox is hidden in the GAL and so you can't physically connect to it. Anything else I can check without having access to the SMTP server? I guess I could try bouncing this off an SMTP server I do have access to and see what I can see from there...

If not then there's your problem if so then are you checking the mail box you are using for salive with any other client? If so that client may be removing the message off of the server before salive checks.
