I totally agree also, tieing thresholds above or below your established baselines as alerting basis.

Ho w to use? We're thinking about something similar...having the ability (for the checks that give a number back - like diskspace - perfmon - ...) to define 2 values were you can say (example) > 50 MINOR > 90 MAJOR and within the alerting use the notion of MINOR and MAJOR Dirk. -----Original Message----- From: Ziots, Edward [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, March 06, 2006 8:55 PM To: Servers Alive Discussion List Subject: [SA-list] RE: [SA-list] Re: [SA-list] Extra Information Field on Alerts? Thanks much I figured as much, Wish they could do that in V6.0, Z -----Original Message----- From: Jason Passow [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, March 06, 2006 2:50 PM To: Servers Alive Discussion List Subject: [SA-list] Re: [SA-list] Extra Information Field on Alerts? How to use? The extra info field is data that is contained in the error. Therefore if you are checking a website and get a 500 internal server error then "500 internal server error" is the extra info. The extra info field is NOT a way to add extra info in the email. To add extra info to the email use the subject and message box (i.e. MAJOR alert %h is %s). If you add the %e paramater to your email you will see what the extra info field contains.
