Maybe it would be good to indicate what "language" you're going to use for the webpage(s), ASP/PHP/PERL/....

Subject: [SA-list] A wee bit of web programming

Morning all. Not sure how many people will be on the list today (MayDay and all that) but here goes... This is a question for the web developers amongst us.

I'm trying to put together a web page that will present details (including status, check description, stats, round trip graphs etc etc) for any SA check entry. My preference is that you select the entry you are interested in from a drop down box or other scrollable list, and the details appear for that entry. Further options would let you choose timescale (hour/day/week etc) for the graphs.

I'm just trying to work out how to do that. I can extract that info on each cycle using the appropriate SA tags, and I can then put them into _javascript_ variables. But what then? Is that the best way to do it? If I just want to present a single set of entries (i.e. just the tags appropriate for a single check entry) am I best to somehow port all the data into a database each time, and then query the database from the webpage? I'm drowning in a sea of variables and logic...

Hope you follow my meaning. If not I will try to explain further.

Cheers,

Ian
