I know that my team would certainly love *any* additional customization of the status
summary. We send a daily status to everyone each day and it would be nice to
tweak what was displayed. It would also be nice to be able to adjust the formatting.
For example, I find this hard to read on a pager:
Up: 113 - Down: 0 -
Maintenance: 0 - Unavailable: 0 - Unchecked: 0
The colons and the dashes make it a little
unclear as to which text the numbers go with, especially on a pager where the
text gets wrapped randomly. I’d like to see hard returns after each line
similar to this:
Up: 113
Down: 0
Maintenance: 0
Unavailable: 0
Unchecked: 0

Summary wishlist
I'm thinking about this one and am a
little stuck :-)
Would it be correct to say that basicly
you want (and maybe others too?) to have several status summary
"lines" as you would have several alerts and/or several executive
alerts?
Do you see this as being part of the
executive alerts (with more options that is) or just that the "status
summary"-part will have a similar screen as the executive alerts.
The WHEN part would need to have:
* each cycle
* at approx. ..
The WHAT part will be the
same as for the normal alerts
A new tab that gives an idea on what
entries to include:
* all down
* all status change
* all status change + down
* all
* summary line
all combined with an
option to say
entries of [ALL]-[of this checktype]-[of this group]-[of this
level]
?

1. A selector would be great! But useful to know that
teams can be added by hand.
2.
Perfect.
3.
Ummm... I guess it's a combination of exec alerts and the status summary. The
exec alerts can be set only to send if something happens in a specific group,
but don't send at a specific time of day. What I'm after is an alert that goes
out at a set time every day (like the status summary) but that only lists the
status of checks from a specific group. Ideally I'd then combine this with
request 4, so that anything that has been down in the last 24hrs in a specific
group is highlighted.
4.
I could live with that!
One
further request (which isn't for the status summary, but does follow the same
logic): would it be possible to store up SMS alerts generated between (say)
1800 and 0600, and send them out at 0600?
Thanks,
Ian

1. can already be done (you don't have a
"selector" to select the people/team) but adding them by hand does
work
2. only send on specific days would then be usefull I
suppose? Seems "possible" to add
3. basicly this is more like the executive alerts right?
4. that's indeed much harder .... what could be done is all
that are currently down and those that had there last status change in the last
24h. but this *could* also mean an entry that when from unchecked to up
(as that is also a status change).

Subject: [SA-list] Status Summary wishlist
We're making increasing use of the Status Summary. I have (as ever!) a few
suggestions for things that would make it even better:
1) (nice to have) Being able to add to the "To:" list using the
Person and Group lists.
2) (nice to have) Being able to turn off the summary at weekends.
3) (really, really useful) Having multiple status summaries, which one can set
by group. For example, I have one status summary that goes to certain people,
covering all downs. But I have groups setup within SA covering systems in
different regions, and I would love to be able to send a summary covering just
a particular region's systems to the local IT support people there.
4) (really useful but possibly harder to do) Having an "all status changes
over the last 24 hours" or maybe "all downs in the last 24
hours" option for the "what entries" line.
Cheers,
Ian
