My biggest requests would be this:
1) Separate out the GUI from the check engine.
2) Make the GUI just for handling the config and make it
more robust.
Let the check engine run as a service and let the GUI be a mechanism to
manage the check configuration and query the most recent result if
needed.
Honestly - I never use the GUI for checking status. I always look at
one or more of my other outputs.
Here are the types of changes/inquiries I currently dread making with
the existing GUI and wish I could do better:
--What alerts are sent as email to Person X?
--Apply this new escalation plan (series of notifications based on
increasing number of DOWNS) to checks of this type:
--Remove Person Y from alerts on these 8 checks because they changed
jobs.
--group/categorize checks by line of business (department) impacted (one
or more could be listed for each check) - and allow me to put together
specific outputs by line of business.
-- Do I have any checks that don't run any every cycle?
-- Take all my disk space checks, that run every 1 in 10 cycles, and
spread the start cycle out evenly across the range.
-- How are all my ping checks configured? (error percentage, etc)

Servers Alive exists since some time :-) The GUI didn't change a lot
since day 1.
We think it's time for some change.
The change should be "just" a GUI change not adding
features/functionality.
If you have some good ideas or have some examples that we could use (as
idea), well then just send them over :-)
