I suppose there is a mailserver running on 127.0.0.1? Did you configure what IP to bind to in the setup-alerts-smtp-primary-advanced screen?

Using SA 6.2.x, we are attempting to use an SMTP server on the local host rather than an external one. We set the SMTP server to 127.0.01 and/or localhost, but this doesn't appear to work. SA either falls back to relaying directly or gives a cryptic error message in the log about unable to bind to an address... Does this have something to do with the goofiness in Windows where its 127.0.0.1 address isn't a physical interface?
