> Edwin - as you are the clever person who designed the Atom in the first place (when you originally released the design via Malcolm Mackenzie) - we are all ready to listen to any great ideas you have! Now I caught myself mailing to the list instead of the person too. That mail was not supposed to go to the list. Sorry! But now it's out anyway. So why not tell the rest. I've got several ideas for CF quite a while. But just recently I got all the parts to play with. I'm currently working on a different SAM project that I won't spoil yet. But I got a very great Idea for the CF interface that gets me very excited about it and can hardly wait to play around with it. For Atom USERs Colins interface or using a PCMCIA adapter hooked to a IDE connector will work too. But will those who don't have a atom make one/buy one to use CF'. And will they be willing to open up the SAM to fit the atom ? We're living in the the RetroAge now so I don't think so. A interface that hooks to the back of the sam will be a good alternative (and a great way to fill those sam boxes I took over from Nev) The Idea I got that exited me is using a CF card in memory mode and mapped as external memory so memory IO can be used which is faster then normal IO. The electronics required is also less then needed for the atom. As a matter of fact you can make a cheapo CF interface with just a Edge connector two diodes a pulldown resistor and a CF connector (or PCMCIA adapter) !!! The Deluxe version I have in mind would be dual slot version that will allow hotswapping and will contain about three logic ICs and a rom that replaces the SAM rom which contains boot code like my HardDiskBootROM all fitted in a white SAM box. A two drive system is makes copying cards and to excange software. easier especially if you don't have a atom or diskdrive! Since I have made no tests yet I cannot tell if the above will work at all or not. All I have for now is just a idea and this mail for for you to enjoy :-) Edwin
