This kind of approach appeals to me too - what would the creator thing be used for, after all the update speed of programs on the SAM is very minimal indeed. Would it actually matter if a GIF is created with PSHP or something else? I doubt it. But then if you look at the document formats on the PC, a creator field would be handy to identify the conversion type needed....
