First of all the tag I intended is as an extension and therefore part of the
directory entry.

Sure let any program load anything in. But I WANT to KNOW what type of file it
is. If I
get a discful of stuff then I don't want to go along and try out all the files
on all my
programs to see what programs it works with. An extension system is
_essential_!.

Sure let WP load in the basic file, if it knows it's a basic file then it could
offer the
possible best conversion method.
