I messed with it quite a lot in the early days. The trouble is that
different people percepts the red/green lines differently. Among other
things the distance between the eyes differ so you have to have an
option to configure the offset between the lines.

Possibly. But you might be able to do some clever stuff, but it will
still be too slow. 6MHz is not enough for 24K of screen....
