Ah, ok.  I didn't think regular DOS would touch anything except 512 byte
sectors - does it actually read in the full sector, or just the first part?.
Quick check of Prince of Persia shows tracks 4 onward use 1024 byte sectors
anyway :-)

I'm even more confused now - I thought we were just talking about how to
determine whether something is bootable?

There shouldn't be any real need to change ROM to detect a 'No DOS'
condition, as the lack of BOOT(+128) signature in T:4 S:1 will be enough to
detect it before any ROM code is run.  I agree that what is done for that
situation could be configurable.
