Ah, ok. I didn't think regular DOS would touch anything except 512 byte sectors - does it actually read in the full sector, or just the first part?. There shouldn't be any real need to change ROM to detect a 'No DOS' condition, as the lack of BOOT(+128) signature in T:4 S:1 will be enough to detect it before any ROM code is run.
