IIRC Andrew Collier wrote some SamTools that I presume are up on NVG (ftp://ftp.nvg.ntnu.no/pub/sam-coupe/) and given that he's a bit fond of Macs I presume they can be compiled on one. > Presumably there are Sam emulators for the Mac? For shame! WinCoupe is used for lunchtime playing of Manic Miner but you can't beat the real thing - how many computers boot in 10 seconds these days :-) > I might just manage to get him on the Mac if he can transfer his floppy files onto the HD. > Thinking about it, that would mean getting an external floppy drive.... but, in theory, > is it possible; Can I open Sam files on a Mac, and then paste the text into Word or, even better, Quark? Depending on the Sam package used depends on how easy the files will be to read. For examples PCG WordMaster files have little formatting in them and so will transfer readily to other platforms (my dissertation was written on my Sam and uploaded to a PC, so were the original draft of my Sam webpages) but others that have formatting control codes embedded in them may be less transferable.
