Received SAM Revival issue 1 this morning and very nice it is too.
Really well presented and I think it'll settle down to be a really
readable mag over the next few issues. It's got the feeling of being
published during the SAM's peak (if you can call it that), rather than
in 2002...which either means Colin's a bit mad or he's just a bit into
the SAM. I suspect both.
My first SAM is currently sitting with Colin, about to undergo an
operation to fix a multitude of problems including the video chip and/or
crystal, dodgy keyboard, shadow fix, broken reset and NMI buttons, a new
ROM (to get rid of the WCC copyright bollocks and disc spelling!) and a
few other little things. All this came from my first SAM being a botched
job sold to me by Bob - it's obviously one that's been returned for
repair and someone who really didn't know how to solder, attempted to
learn to do so, by playing with my SAM. Then it was sold to me as new.
Which was nice. Still, Colin tells me the description in white of the
ports and buttons on the back of the baseplate is rare and indicates a
very early baseplate. Which *is* nice.
I'm left with a SAM Colin McD sold to me, which is in a much better
state but I decided to get my original baby fixed...
