Well, 2002 was a rather busy year for me, especially after the launch of the mag
in August, so i'd like to start off this email by saying a quick 'Thank you' to
both the contributors for their hard work in writing articles and reviews and
also to the readers who have given it a try - I hope you enjoyed it!

Looking back, 2002 saw the release of a few new bits of Sam hardware from
myself. I put a lot of effort, cash and time into developing them - although the
last 2 weeks of each product's development cycle is the most frustrating -
waiting for the first batch of finished PCBs to come back and then solder one up
for for it's final testing and getting everything ready for release. That has to
be the most enjoyable part of it, although firing up the prototypes is really
satisfying when I see them working for the first time - that has to come a very
close second! (Hmmm... might have to take some photos of the messy prototypes
sometime for a behind the scenes look!)

I plan to be just as busy in 2003, a quick glance round at my workbench and disk
box shows what's in development, and I am happy to report that my next piece of
Sam hardware (or two!) are due for release very early next year so stayed tuned
for them! I'm in the middle of writing up an article about one of them for the
next Sam Revival just now! (What a way to spend New Year's Eve eh!)

With SR3 only posted a couple of days ago I was pleasantly surprised to already
have a few people commenting about one of the articles I had written - 'Sam In A
Can', I would have to censor the responses of what they said to type it in a
polite email ("**** ** that's a work of art!!!" was one of them, and a few
others were near enough the same, and even had my phone ringing with folk to
natter about it!) Two chaps have asked so far if I could recase one of their
Sam's the same way ... and yes... I would be willing to! I really don't want to
spoil the article here, but there is a brief description about this project in
the previous mail about the mag. And just to let you know - there'll be an
update of the 'Sam In A Can' in ish 4 as i've been busy working on it further!

I also had some favourable remarks (or you could say demands to start coding!)
about the kart game article in ish 2 of the mag - where I looked back at an old
game I once started work on, and it's got my mind buzzing again with ideas! And
then Chrome, yes I know... not much has happened on that front for well over a
year and a half - other things just get in the way - but I've spent some time in
these holidays to look over it and try to get the ball rolling slowly again. If
only I could take a nice long break from my normal day-to-day job to work on
this stuff full time!

Anyway, here's to the Sam, and the new year - have a good 'un!

All the best,

Colin Piggot
