You know, I don't think Robert was being a pedantic twat. He was voicing an opinion that didn't necessarily mesh with your own, and which was really based on strict statement of fact. Facts that don't change, even if they're not spoken. I see where he coming from, too. I, myself, wanted to buy a Quazar, back in the active days of the SAM, but really never had the money spare, being a poor student with a part time job. I've since moved to the United States. It would be VERY EXPENSIVE to have my Sam equipment shipped over here, and even more expensive to find a way to get the orignal equipment to run. Someone more knowledgeable than I, hopefully, can reply to this and outline exactly what I'd need to get a SAM and PAL TV going in the US. The only way I can play with new (or old) SAM stuff is via Simcoupe. Now, trust me, I'm a big believer in owning original hardware over emulation, but emulation is handy. If the Mayhem takes off (at least within this community) in a large way, I'm no longer going to be able to keep up with new SAM software. I think we're a close knit group, most of who are likely to support new software and hardware projects with their cash, if they consider the project worthwhile, even if it can be simulated in an emulator. I realise it's *not* Colin's intent, but his cries of "Please don't emulate this" can come across as someone desperate to squeeze whatever they can out of a scene they're desparately hanging onto as a business. A little Bob Brenchley, if you will. ;) In all honesty, I examine the situation with a level head and I understand Colin's motivation, and I don't believe this is what he wants at all, but the knee-jerk reaction to seeing such a request can be this way, while really, Colin is the most dedicated out of any of us, and if it wasn't for him we probably wouldn't have any fresh products to fuel our hobby. And, David, no-one attacked you, and no-one attacked anyone, really, so I don't quite understand your "Unsubscribe" post.
