off the top of my head... I thought you need to use the CLEAR n (n=pages ) which then frees up the memory for large BASIC programs?

Its (doing this from the top of my head)

Open n (n=number of pages)
and then
Clear n tot set a new ramtop, so n = (16384 x open pages)
