I had an internal and an external drive (because I had a speccy DISCiPLE disk interface) - both worked fine - as long as you did indeed not reset with a disk / disc in the drive. Edwin Blink's DPU (disk protector unit - http://www.samcoupe-pro-dos.co.uk/edwin/hardware/dpu/dpu.htm) worked a charm. But as with all things you are used to, it took a while before actually having the courage to leave the disk in the drive... :)
