Hi Gavin, I'm really glad you like the game! It certainly wouldn't look as nice without Chris' amazing 3D stars! I'm also pleased you're finding it hard to beat because I've been playing it a lot and was very unsure of the difficulty level.
Make sure you get a fully grown flower or two going as quickly as possible and always pick and replant flowers once they are surrounded and can't spawn further. It's also best not to let the patch get too big so you don't have to walk too far to squish bugs. Hope that helps a bit and thanks for giving it a try! :) Rob.
