No-one has replied to my thread, so perhaps this is an ususual issue. To help to debug it myself, can someone explain what Samba is 'doing' during the above log section? It looks to be Doing Something with 'Default User.v2/NTUSER.DAT', but it's not a file open or read, because I know what those look like in the logs. What is 'call_trans2qfilepathinfo'?
