Hi,
is it possible you have a local firewall installed which blocks access
over eth1? If this is a recent linux-distro (suse/redhat) this is verry
likely to happen.

One More thing, after tinkering with it more, I found that Port 139 is
refusing connection. I've got another Linux box, smbclient to the problem
box gave that message.

Once I removed the NIC, restart samba, then all is better.

Can anyone help me? I would like to add in another NIC for my backup
solution.

TYhanks.

Subject: Can't find samba server after new NIC installed

Hi All,

Perhaps you guys can help me shed some light on this 'problem' I'm
facing.

I recently added another NIC to my samba server. eth0(10.0.0.251) and
eth1(valid dhcp address)
ETH0 was added to connect to another PC that acts as the backup server.
(dedicated connection)

Now, Samba won't come back up.. I can still ssh into the server and all.

Any ideas? I know that the wins needs up to 45mins for the announcement to
work.. but even using ip address on windows (as in
start->run->\\eth1-ip-add) does not work. (windows gives the error - No
Service is operating at the destination network endpoint on the remote
system)

I've added interfaces = eth1
wins server = ipaddress of windows network wins server

nmbd/nmbd_browsesync.c:find_domain_master_name_query_fail(358)
  find_domain_master_name_query_fail:
Unable to find the Domain Master Browser name MY<1b> for the workgroup MY.
Unable to sync browse lists in this workgroup.

After putting log level = 10, I find this

[2003/08/12 18:18:05, 4] nmbd/nmbd_workgroupdb.c:dump_workgroups(289) dump_workgroups() dump workgroup on subnet UNICAST_SUBNET: netmask= xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa: MY(1) current master browser = UNKNOWN eth1-name 40019a03 (server comment)

Usually, (before this issue), samba is able to get the current master
browser...(and before, I never even put in the wins server ipaddress and it
works!)

HELP me please..
