Hold on...I lied. Farther down in my smb.conf file:
[homes]
comment = Home Directories
read only = No
browseable = No
oplocks = Yes
veto files = /.?*/.AppleDouble/.bin/.AppleDesktop/Network Trash
Folder/.Parent/Icon?/Desktop/DesktopFolderDB/Maildir/
...and yes indeed, this was in my home directory, so yes, this was with
oplocks.
