Hello all,
We have been running samba version 2 for years now and
I decided to upgrade to version 3.0.7 (then 8 and now 9).

However I can't get it to compile even though nothing's
changed on our UNIX boxes; Sun and Linux.

I originally used 'our' normal inputs to configure (e.g.
--prefix=...., etc.) and the make failed. Then I used
no inputs to it; failed and finally I used arguments extra
such as --with-ldap=no, --with-ads=no, etc. which seem to
be new for version 3. All attempts failed with the following
        (Solaris 9):

....
Compiling lib/dummysmbd.c
Linking bin/nmbd
Undefined first referenced
 symbol in file
__unsafe_string_function_usage_here_size_t__ nmbd/nmbd_incomingdgrams.o
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to bin/nmbd
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [bin/nmbd] Error 1

I get a similar error from Linux.

incomingdgrams compiled OK in release 2.2.11.

        Any ideas anyone??

        Thanks,
        Paul
