Ok, then this should work with Windows too. So long as the filename is not being seen as a alternate data stream and is being correctly mangled, then it should be accessible via that mangled name to a Windows client. I need debug level 10 logs of your problem occurring, and a bug logged at samba.org bugzilla will help track it.
