Well in my case I may have a web server ONLY with 20 domains on it and each of those domains may use 1 or different mail servers. So I don't rely on a ISP to relay for me would I always use a local one.. The mailit.exe works great for letting each of those customers route mail from their own mail server (whether I host it or not).. Also when dealing with 3rd party applications (like a Yabb forum or even a standalone backup job), you are not going to want to re-write that app to work with Sambars MTA or Relay when it has its own controls for connecting to a particular mail server and its quite simple to call the mailit binary when you are already in a shell/dos/perl.. If I were forced not to use mailit anymore I would probably drop back to the next best method of using Perl and NET::SMTP but Tods mailit is just hard to beat for simplicity..
So lets agree to disagree :).. RCXsendmail is good for some but maybe not all.. Also FYI, Tod has ported mailit to Linux as well now and it seems to work perfectly. Danny ------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe please go to http://www.sambar.ch/list/
